The ice cream chain which was founded in Youngstown in 1945 and became known for favorites like chocolate pecan is churning out a brand-new flavor. But it’s only on sale through the end of May.

Handel's Homemade Ice Cream has announced it is serving Carrot Cake Ice Cream.

The new flavor targets the Gen Z crowd which research shows prefers familiar foods.

The ice cream has a carrot cake base with cinnamon, nutmeg, bits of raisins, and cream cheese ripple.

"Our flavor innovation strategy at Handel's focuses on bringing familiar classics to life in a fun and comforting way, perfectly exemplified through our Carrot Cake recipe," said Jennifer Schuler, CEO of Handel's Homemade Ice Cream.

Carrot Cake is available until May 30, 2024, at all locations while supplies last, according to a news release from Handel’s.
