YOUNGSTOWN - A man who said he wanted to go to jail in Youngstown found a way to do so Monday night.

An officer working at YPD headquarters says in a report that 52-year-old Derrick Waller walked up to him claiming he just threw a rock through a window because he wanted to go to jail.

Waller offered to show the officer his handiwork, so the two walked up Phelps Street to a bar on West Federal Street where a large window was broken.

The owner showed up and recovered a rock inside the bar. Security video also showed Waller, according to the report.

Waller said he had more rocks in his pocket, which police confirmed.

The suspect was booked into the county jail on a charge of vandalism.
