K.A.R Foundation makes first donation to NICU in Boardman

A new local non-profit aimed at helping families with children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) made its first donation in time for mother's day.
The K.A.R Foundation, created to help families with children, specifically families with children that are in the NICU as well as bereaved families, dropped off care packages for families to help them hardships.
The group donated 20 packages for the mothers at the Akron Children's Hospital NICU in Boardman.
Packages included things to brighten their days like journals, and children's books.
The efforts are meant to support a unit, that helped the nonprofit's founder through a tough time of her own.
"My youngest daughter Kasey, she spent 74 days in the NICU," Czara Richards, president and founder of K.A.R Foundations. "She was born at 29 weeks, she was three pounds, four ounces. So the NICU has always been so close to my heart."
Richards hopes this donation will help bring light to the local mothers that are currently spending their Mother's Day in the NICU.
