After a decade on the job, Youngstown State University Police K9 has retired.
The campus police department announced on Facebook that K9 Gino was given a sendoff this past weekend.
Gino joined YSU PD in 2014 as an explosive detection canine as part of a grant through the Ohio Department of Homeland Security.
Gino not only was part of the campus security detail, but Gino also assisted surrounding police and sheriff’s departments when needed.
Gino will remain under the care of his handler, Sergeant Mark Mehley.
