WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man spent part of the weekend in jail after being accused of trying to set a woman on fire.

A 42-year-old woman told police that she called Cornell Evans to help her repair a door at her Mazda Avenue home on Sunday.

The woman said she called the police after Evans became angry, grabbed a bottle of lighter fluid, poured it on her, and attempted to set her on fire.

Officers say that the woman’s shirt was wet and she smelled like lighter fluid.

Officers found 61-year-old Evans in a bedroom, where he was arrested.

Evans was scheduled for arraignment Monday on a charge of felonious assault.
