Police in Youngstown rescued a woman for a crash that officers say left her trapped in a vehicle for hours.

Police rescued a woman from a van that they say went over a guardrail at a dead end on North Schenley Avenue overnight. Police say one of the woman's family members was looking for her.

Officers tell us they received a call shortly before 12:30 Friday afternoon that the woman was found trapped in the vehicle, which was upside down in an embankment.

21 News crews at the scene observed the vehicle flipped completely upside down with its trunk open in the middle of a wooded area.

The woman has since been taken to the hospital, but her condition is not known at this time. Police say there may have been more people in the vehicle at some point as well.
