Drivers asked to avoid downtown Struthers during water line, utility work

STRUTHERS, Ohio - Drivers are asked to avoid downtown Struthers for the time being due to water and utility work that is going on in the area.
Mayor Cat Cercone-Miller tells 21 News that work for two separate projects will be going on in the same day downtown and drivers should avoid the area during that work.
The first project comes from Aqua Ohio who is working to replace 7,000 feet of water main in the city including portions of State Street, Elm Street and Park Avenue and the entirety of Columbus, Moore and Reed Streets.
The project also includes increasing 10-inch diameter pipes with 12-inch pipes and increasing six-inch pipes with eight-inch pipes to improve water flows and installing 20 new fire hydrants and 27 new valves.
Additionally, Team Fishel will be working to finish work on a fiber optic project underneath the railroad in downtown Struthers. Work on this project will overlap with Aqua's project.
Drivers should avoid the area during this work if possible.
