YOUNGSTOWN - The demolition brought a crowd of onlookers as the historic Realty Building started coming down Friday afternoon.

Uncertainty lingers for when businesses, including the DoubleTree and Bistro 1907 can reopen. This follows a failed attempt from passionate residents and stakeholders to save the building that's been a part of the downtown district's history for a century.

"As a business owner of Youngstown, I do disapprove of it," explained Bistro 1907 Owner and Chef Mark Canzonetta. "But I understand it is the right decision to move forward in Youngstown."

Well-know eatery Bistro 1907 has been the hardest hit restaurant, being forced to close its doors since May 28th's incident. In a Friday social media post, the restaurant says it's time for a change, questioning the integrity of city leadership. Canzonetta confirmed with 21 News a potential rebranding is on the horizon.

"We're very transparent in what we do," Canzonetta explained. "We felt this is the best way not just to represent ourselves as a brand but also representing the city in a new rebirth like the phoenix coming out of the flames."

Canzonetta said he has been advised by his legal team, advisers, accountants, friends and family to relocate out of Downtown Youngstown but he, "has a loyalty to Downtown Youngstown. We have a loyalty to the Hilton brand and to the people in that brand that allowed us to be there."

Despite the roadblocks to Bistro 1907, Canzonetta told 21 News he plans to stay in this space along Wick Avenue and remain loyal to the DoubleTree Hotel.

"I love being a part of Downtown Youngstown," he added. "It's where our heart is. We are going to be announcing what we think is the best step forward for us, my legacy, and our family. So, there will be a new exciting brand coming to Downtown Youngstown and we feel we need that not just for us but for Youngstown."

Canzonetta plans to announce more details on the future of Bistro 1907 and its potential rebranding on Monday, July 15.
