CAMPBELL, Ohio - A Campbell Woman was found not guilty by reason of insanity, almost a year after she broke into a home in Warren and assaulted a dog that later had to be euthanized.

"The defendant was suffering from a sever mental illness. As a result, the defendant did not know the wrongfulness of her acts--therefore the court finds the defendant not guilty by reason of insanity.", Judge Cynthia Westcott Rice explained.

44-year-old Eatta Clardy was initially found not competent to stand trial, but her competency was restored back in June.

Although Clardy was found not guilty, Trumbull County Prosecutor Chuck Marrow says she is not off the hook.

"The Forensic Center will conduct another examination of her and decide what they believe the best course of treatment is for her.", said Chuck Marrow, Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor.

Marrow says the law provides that someone can be under criminal court supervision for the maximum amount of time of the most serious crime they committed.

The judge will determine within the next few weeks what the mental health sentence or confinement will be based on recommendations given from the Forensic Center.
