Several projects in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties are getting a financial boost, thanks to over $1.3 million in state funding.

It is split up as follows:

  • $660,000 for the City of Campbell
  • $103,150 for the City of Struthers
  • $300,000 for the City of Girard
  • $300,000 for Warren JFK High School

The funds will allow the construction of the Campbell Access Road between Struthers-Coitsville Road and Cynthia Drive. The access road will create a shortcut for the Campbell Police and Fire Departments to reach Campbell Middle School and the Community Literacy Workforce and Cultural Center. The road will also be open for public use.

In Struthers, the funding will go toward installing a splash pad play area at Mauthe Park. Adding a splash pad will promote wellness in the community and address an otherwise underutilized park space.

The City of Girard will put its share toward renovating the Wellman Theater downtown. Updates to the 500-seat theater will allow for more performing arts programs in the city.

Security upgrades and more are in store for Warren JFK High School. In addition to the security upgrades, $300,000 in state funding will allow the school to renovate its athletic fields.
