NEWTON TWP, Ohio - A Leavittsburg man faces charges after a Trumbull County Sheriff’s Deputy says he led him on a pursuit through Newton Falls and Newton Township at a speed reaching 90 miles per hour.

A Deputy reports that 29-year-old Phoenix Albertini was driving a Dodge pickup truck with a partially obstructed license plate along Milton Boulevard in Newton Falls at 2 a.m. Thursday.

When the deputy tried to pull the truck over at State Route 534, it sped away along Carson Salt Springs Road at about 90 mph.

The chase continued along roads in Newton Township, running past several stop signs, and eventually going back into Newton Falls.

At one point along McClure East Road, the driver threw something from the truck’s window, according to the Deputy.

While heading southbound on State Route 534, Albertini turned onto Carson Salt Springs Road and jumped out of the truck while it was still moving.

When the Deputy drew his taser, Albertini threw up his hand and fell to the ground where he was handcuffed.

The report says a search of the truck turned up marijuana, suspected methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and a scale.

Deputies also recovered 90 rounds of ammunition and two loaded magazines, one of which was found on the ground along McClure East Road.

Albertini was taken to the county jail awaiting arraignment on charges of resisting arrest, obstructing official business, failure to comply with a police officer, tampering with evidence, possessing drug paraphernalia, and various traffic violations.
