Families in Mahoning County looking to get ready for the upcoming school season but may need some extra help are in luck.

The Warren Family Mission is set to hand out about 500 backpacks to children in grades K through 12 at 155 Tod Ave. NW in Warren for their annual Backpack and School Supply Distribution.

Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m. and distribution begins at 1 p.m.

Additionally, they'll also get bags packed with school supplies to help them get through the year, according to a news release from the organization.

Pizza and ice cream will also be served at the event.

Folks looking to attend the event will need a photo I.D. and birth certificates for each child.
