LISBON, Ohio - A $250,000 investment has been announced for a sewer system improvement project in the Village of Lisbon.

According to a press release, $250,000 has been invested for the North Market Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project. The project aims to improve the reliability of the sewer system for 10 businesses and 56 households.

The funding, which comes from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) will be used to replace existing sewer lines along North Market Street from Lee Street to Saltwell Road, as well as install over 3,100 feet of new line.

Ohio-based U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown is quoted in the release saying investments like this one help rural communities like Lisbon create jobs and attract businesses to the area.

"If we want to promote economic development throughout Ohio, we need to ensure that businesses and communities have the resources and infrastructure they need to ensure access to clean water," Brown said.
