Traffic investigators are checking out a story from a man who claims a woman was driving his car when it slammed into a utility pole, knocking out power to 600 homes and businesses in Youngstown.

Officers found the pole snapped and a car on the sidewalk at South Avenue and Wilbur Avenue late Tuesday.

The car's owner told police he was letting a woman drive the car because he couldn’t see well at night.

The man said the car veered off South Avenue as it crashed, and the woman driver ran away.

The owner said he only knows the woman as “Krista” and that she’s from Warren.

Power was restored to the neighborhood overnight.
