Ohio under open burning ban

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio's annual open burning ban is now in effect.
With a few exceptions, the ban took effect on October 1 and prohibits most open burning in unincorporated areas during March, April, May, October, and November between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Open burning is defined as any outdoor fire that does not vent to a chimney or stack. While recreational and ceremonial fires are allowed under certain conditions, burning refuse or materials such as plastics, metals, or glass is prohibited.
Individuals who choose to conduct open burning should be aware of the specific rules and regulations that apply in their area. Local governments or fire departments may have additional restrictions in place.
It is important to note that open burning can pose risks to health, property, and the environment. The Ohio Division of Forestry encourages residents to consider alternative methods for disposing of yard waste, such as composting.
