A staple of Downtown Warren will permanently close its doors after 50 years of providing fresh produce and much more to the Mahoning Valley.

The Warren Flea and Farmers Market announced via a post on its Facebook page that it will be closing its doors permanently with its last day being Saturday, October 5.

The last day was originally set for Saturday, September 28, but has since been extended by a week.

A statement from the farmers market reads in part:

"We thank our loyal vendors, customers, family and friends for their business and support. It has been our sincere pleasure to serve you and the tri-county area throughout the years. We look forward to this new chapter in our lives and wish you only the best."

21 News is working to learn the reason for the closure. We will update this story with more information as we get it.
