The Southington Volunteer Fire Department has taken an engine out of service after it was involved in an accident.
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, Engine 45 was struck by a car while protecting an emergency scene on Route 422 early Sunday.
No one was injured, but the truck has been taken out of service until it can be inspected.
“This is why we use fire trucks to protect scenes on roadways to make sure no one is struck and injured/killed. Always use caution and remain alert when driving,” according to the post.
The crash investigation is being handled by the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department.
