SALEM, Ohio - Police in Salem are warning residents of a phone scam going on in the city.

According to a post on the Salem Police Department's Facebook page, scammers are calling residents claiming to represent Salem PD notifying would-be victims that they have a warrant out for their arrest.

Salem PD is reminding residents that officers notify those with arrest warrants not over the phone, but in person.

If you receive a call like this, police warn not to give out sensitive information like bank info, your social security number or credit/debit card number over the phone and to never send money to anyone claiming you have a warrant.
