Discovery of drugs in cars leads to arrest of Warren man
Documents filed in federal court shed light on why undercover agents raided locations in Warren on Monday. A search for evidence of drug trafficking resulted in the arrest of a Warren man.
According to an affidavit, the Drug Enforcement Agency arrested 54-year-old Andre L. Bowers on Monday for possession with the intent of distribution of a controlled substance.
Agents say Bowers had two cars delivered to a garage at the former Sibley Murray Funeral Home on North Park Avenue.
The affidavit states that agents had been tracking the cars using GPS after previously discovering that 36 bricks of cocaine and fentanyl concealed in the car’s gas tanks.
Investigators say when Bowers showed up at the garage carrying a tool Monday morning, they surrounded the building and called on Bowers to come out.
The agents say found the back seat of one of the cars had been removed, providing access to the gas tank where the drugs had been hidden.
The DEA also searched a home on Michelle Ave. SE in Warren, finding what the affidavit describes as 500 grams of suspected cocaine pressed into bricks similar to those found in the two cars.
In addition to finding baggies containing fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, agents say they also found documents linked to Bowers.
Bowers remains in the Mahoning County Jail awaiting a detention hearing scheduled for next week before a federal judge.
