Valley Mexican restaurant closes for 'A Day Without Immigrants' protest

A Valley-based business participated Monday in what the Associated Press described as a loosely organized nationwide day of protest against President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
According to a post on the Los Gallos Facebook page, the restaurant’s three locations in Boardman, North Lima, and Bedford, Ohio were closed Monday as part of the “A Day Without Immigrants” protest.
Organizers called on immigrants to refrain from working, shopping, or sending their children to school to “raise our voices for our rights and our families.”
Los Gallos owner Israel Zambrano posted a message announced that his business took part in the event to show support for “brother and sister Latinos”
“I have been in this country for over 20 years and I'm proud to say I am a United States Citizen,” wrote Zambrano. “My children were born here. I started my business here and I'm grateful for all the wonderful people who have supported me throughout the years. However, I am Latino, and I wanted to show support to my Latino brothers and sisters.”
Despite taking part in the protest, Zambrano acknowledged support for the president’s desire to return illegal criminals to their native countries.
“However, I pray that this great country helps all hard-working Latinos who want to have lives in this country can have the opportunity to do so,” Zambrano wrote, concluding his message with the words “God bless America.”
