The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) proposed a project that will consist of work on several bridges in Ohio including multiple in the Mahoning Valley.

In Mahoning County, ODOT is proposing maintenance on a bridge along U.S. 422 in Youngstown and in Trumbull County, ODOT is proposing work on a pedestrian bridge spanning I-80 connecting the City of Girard.

The project will also include work on two bridges in Palmyra Township in Portage County.

The project will cost $2,179,180 and work is expected to begin in the fall of 2025. During construction a minimum of one 10-foot lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on I-80 in Trumbull County.

Meanwhile in Mahoning County, one westbound lane of traffic will need to be closed during construction in order to install a vandal protection fence. The pedestrian bridge in Trumbull County will be closed for one week for the same reason.

The pedestrian detour in Trumbull County will utilize Maple Avenue, U.S. 422 and Morris Avenue. Access to all adjacent businesses, properties and intersecting side streets will be maintained throughout the project.

Anyone with any comments, questions or concerns about the project can submit a public comment to ODOT by clicking here. You can also call 330-786-2274 or email [email protected].

All comments received by March 7 will be taken into consideration during project development.
