Denny's adds surcharge to all meals including eggs due to nationwide shortage, increased costs

Mahoning Valley & U.S. - Breakfast restaurant chain Denny's has added a surcharge to all menu items including eggs at some of its locations due to a nationwide egg shortage and rising egg prices.
According to a statement from the Denny's media team, certain locations will temporarily be adding a surcharge to all menu items including eggs noting that this decision is market-by-market and restaurant-by-restaurant.
Denny's media team said it would not be providing a list of locations or markets affected by this surcharge saying it is a "fluid situation."
"We understand our guests’ desire for value, and we will continue to look for ways to provide options on our menu, including our $2 $4 $6 $8 value menu, while navigating these rapidly changing market dynamics responsibly," Denny's statement reads.
This move from Denny's mirrors that of C's Waffles in North Lima, who added a 50 cent surcharge for all items including eggs at the restaurant earlier in February.
Denny's media team told 21 News the price of the surcharge varies on a restaurant-by-restaurant and market-by-market basis, but will be per item rather than per egg.
