Portable radar sign set up in Beaver Township near South Range High School

BEAVER TWP., Ohio -
A new portable radar is set up in Beaver Township to help deter speeding.
The sign will be used to collect data on speed and traffic volumes in areas where issues have been reported.
One troublesome area is Middletown Road between Route 46 and Detwiler Road.
Police say it's being used as a cut-through for students to get to and from school.
"We get a lot of complaints in that area for speed and a lot of it has to do with the fact that you have South Range Schools there at 46 and Middletown," Beaver Township Police Detective Lieutenant Michael Sinkovich said. "It's an easy cut-through to avoid the intersection of 46 and 165 which gets very backed up in the morning and in the afternoon when school lets out."
Once the data is collected, it will be used to determine if increased attention is needed in the area.
The sign is not a speed camera and won't issue tickets.
