BAZETTA TWP., Ohio - We're getting a clearer picture of what led to a police presence in the area of Hoagland Blackstub Road in Bazetta Township Tuesday evening.

The police presence was reported around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Bazetta Township Police Chief Christopher Herlinger tells 21 News officers with the Bazetta Township Police Department, along with the Geauga and Portage County Sheriff's Offices and Ohio BCI were all on scene investigating a cold case.

Chief Herlinger did not specify which cold case this is, but said more information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.

In the meantime, Herlinger says as the investigation continues, folks in the area will see increased police activity, but assures residents that there is no immediate danger to the public.
