Driver indicted in connection with OVI crash in New Middletown that killed mother, teen

The driver in an OVI crash that claimed the lives of a mother and one of her teenage children has been indicted.

Sixty-five-year-old Walter Bolt, who OSP says was driving a pickup truck that crashed into a car driven by 44-year-old Angela Brown killing her and her 15-year-old son Jason Daff and seriously injuring her other 12-year-old son was indicted on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, as well as one count each of aggravated vehicular assault and OVI.

According to court records, Bolt has not been arrested yet, but a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The crash happened on State Route 170 in New Middletown back in March of 2025. Police say Bolt's pickup truck went left of center and struck Brown's vehicle. 

Police say Bolt's blood alcohol level was .215, which is over twice the legal limit of .08. Additionally, police say several open alcohol containers were found in Bolt's truck.

According to reports, no one in either vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
