NILES, Ohio - The Niles Fire Department will be conducting annual citywide hydrant flushing beginning Monday.

The flushing program kicks off Monday, May 19 and is expected to last two to three weeks weather permitting. Crews will be flushing hydrants in various areas each day.

Hydrant flushing is necessary to help maintain water quality in the city and also evaluate the effectiveness of all hydrants serviced by the City of Niles.

When hydrant flushing occurs in your neighborhood, you may experience low water pressure or see discoloration in your water for a short time. If this happens, you can run your cold water until the discoloration goes away.
