FARRELL, Pa. - The case of a former Farrell Area School District employee accused of stealing over $10,000 worth of funds from the district has been bound over to a higher court.

According to court records, a formal arraignment hearing has been set for 24-year-old Derek Randolph on Tuesday, July 29. Randolph is charged with felony counts of forgery, theft and other reason access device is unauthorized by issuer and one misdemeanor count of misapplication of entrusted government property.

The charges stem from allegations dating back to September of 2024 when school officials told police Randolph had overpaid himself via a job position that didn't actually exist, as well as fuel expenses not authorized by the district.

Additionally, it was alleged that Randolph forged multiple school officials' signatures on on documents such as expense reports and fund withdrawal requests and that he had allegedly paid for personal expenses via a credit card with district funds on it.

In all, Randolph is accused of stealing $10,061.84 from the district.
