Paving project spanning multiple Mercer County communities to begin in June

Mercer County, Pa. - A paving project spanning nearly three miles across multiple Mercer County communities is scheduled to begin next month.
A $2 million resurfacing project that will span nearly three miles of Route 518 spanning Sharon, Sharpsville and Hermitage is set to begin Monday, June 9 weather permitting.
Work will include the paving of 2.7 miles of roadway from Thornton Street in Sharon to Pierce Bluffs Drive in Hermitage, as well as milling, ADA-compliant curb ramp updates, guide rail improvements and line painting.
This work is expected to be completed by September of 2025.
During the construction period, drivers may experience lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers should prepare for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions and expect travel delays during active work hours.
The total cost for the project is $2,091,690 with 80% of that to be paid for with federal funds and the other 20% to be paid for with state funds.
