Chances for showers to end the work week

After some brief morning sunshine, skies will turn mostly cloudy on Friday with showers arriving around midday. Showers will be likely for a time this afternoon, especially in southern portions of our viewing area. High temperatures will be on the cooler side once again, only reaching the mid-60s.
Showers will briefly come to an end Friday evening, before another round of raindrops becomes possible overnight. Those showers will be associated with an approaching cold front, and a shower or two cannot be ruled out early Saturday. Behind the front, it will be a chilly and breezy Saturday afternoon with decreasing clouds.
Skies will clear out Saturday night, and Sunday will be a much more pleasant day. High temperatures will still be below average, but skies will be mostly sunny for much of the day.
A ridge will develop over the eastern half of the country as we move into next work week, leading to bright sunshine and increasing temperatures on Monday and Tuesday. Highs will return to the 80s both Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.
Clouds will start to increase again late Wednesday, and showers will reenter the forecast Wednesday night into Thursday.
