Weathersfield rape suspect jailed on $1M bond

WEATHERSFIELD TWP., Ohio - A Niles man is being held in the Trumbull County Jail on a $1 million bond after being charged with rape by Weathersfield Township police.
Charles Shultz, 52, of 1573 N. Main St., entered no plea during his bench warrant arraignment Monday. A public defender was appointed to represent him.
Weathersfield Township police filed the charge, a first-degree felony, on April 24, stemming from an alleged incident on Aug. 20, 2024. A warrant for Shultz’s arrest was issued the same day.
21 News has requested the police report on the incident, but have not yet heard back.
Judge Christopher J. Shaker set Shultz's bond at $1 million and issued a criminal protection order.
Shultz is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 9 at 9:15 a.m.
