SALEM, Ohio - An Akron man is facing multiple felony charges, including compelling prostitution, after allegedly trying to arrange a sexual encounter in Salem with what he believed was a 15-year-old girl and her mother.

According to an affidavit filed by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, 31-year-old Christopher Tarter allegedly used his phone to request sex acts for $220 from an undercover agent posing as a 15-year-old female and her adult mother.

Authorities say Tarter drove to Salem on Monday, where he was arrested by the undercover agent.

Tarter was charged with compelling prostitution, attempted compelling prostitution, importuning, and possessing criminal tools. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of engaging in prostitution, to which he pleaded not guilty during a video arraignment on Tuesday in Columbiana County Municipal Court.

Tarter is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 12 .
