Auto Parkit project in Warren updated by CEO, says COVID set them back
Warren residents and council members are growing tired of waiting for progress at the Auto Parkit facility that's shut down Dana street since 2018.
"All we wanna do is be able to create a secure campus so that we can continue to grow the business here in multiple buildings and have those buildings related to each other so that we can move product back and forth," Christopher Alan President and CEO of Auto Parkit said.
The project is now entering it's seventh year. Alan attributed the delay to COVID-19.
"We actually didn't take ownership for the land until I think December of 2018 or January of 2019 and then the end of 2019 is when covid hit," Alan said. "So we were involved trying to acquire the property a couple years before that which people associate with us owning the property when we didn't," he said.
Now, he says things are looking up and they've been adding to the buildings on site so far, similar to what he told 21 News back in 2021.
At that time, he estimated another six or seven years before the project would be complete.
"So the expansion here is adding machines. so we'll be adding some new CNC machines, and another laser to make individual parts and pieces here," Alan said.
To address any concerns from the community, Alan says they have an open door.
There's no clear completion date for the project but we'll keep checking back for updates.
