Ohio State Highway Patrol to hold Columbiana County OVI checkpoint June 7

According to a news release, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be holding an OVI checkpoint in Columbiana County on June 7, 2025.
According to the release, the location of the checkpoint will be announced the morning of June 7.
The checkpoint, funding by federal grant funds, aims to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
"Based on provisional data, there were 581 OVI-related fatal crashes last year in Ohio," said Lieutenant Morrison, commander of the Lisbon Post.
Lieutenant Morrison continued," State Troopers make an average of 25,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways."
