There are many children whose primary source of meals comes from the schools they attend.

According to Children's Defense Fund Ohio, a non-profit that helps children with poverty and other concerns, one in six children in Ohio lives in a household that faces hunger.

To help combat these issues, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is offering SUN Meals, a summer food program that provides free breakfast and lunch to children, including locations across the Valley.

Here are local locations offering breakfast and/or lunch for anyone 18 years old or younger. 

MAHONING COUNTY

  • Brier Hill Community Center, 263 Dupont Street, Youngstown. Start date June 9, ends on August 15; Breakfast from 10 to 11 - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri; Lunch Time, 1 to 2 pm on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.
  • Rockford Village Community Center, 1402-B Dogwood Lane, Youngstown. June 9 through August 14. Breakfast time is 9:50 to 10:15 am on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu; Lunch Time is 12:30 to 1 pm on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu.
  • Michael Kusalaba Library, 2815 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown. June 2 through July 31, providing lunches 11:30 to 12:30 on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.
  • Austintown Elementary School, 245 Idaho Rd., Austintown. Started on June 2 and runs through August 15; offering breakfast weekdays from 7:45 to 8:30 am and lunch from 11:15 to 12:45 pm on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.
  • Austintown Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive, that started on June 2 and runs through June 27, from 7:45 to 8:45 am on weekdays. 
  • Austintown Middle School, 700 South Raccoon Road, Austintown, that started on June 2 and runs through June 27, 7:45 to 8:30 am weekdays
  • The Public Library of Youngstown Main, 305 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, started on June 2 and runs through July 31. Offering lunch weekdays from 11:30 to 12:30. 
  • Victory Estates, 690 Magnolia Avenue, Youngstown. Starts on June 9, runs through August 15, with breakfast weekdays from 10  to 11 am, and lunch weekdays from 1 to 2 pm.
  • Northeast Ohio Impact Academy, 280 Sixth Street, Campbell. Starting June 9 through August 7. Breakfast is served weekdays from 8 to 10 am, while lunch is served from 11 am to 1 pm.
  • Kirwan Homes Community Center, 75 Jackson St., Campbell. Starts June 9 through August 14 from 10 to 10:30 am on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu. and lunch on the same days from 1 to 1:30 pm. 
  • McKinley High School, 225 East Indiana Avenue, Sebring. Started June 2 through August 7, offering breakfast from 11 to 11:30 am weekdays and lunch from 11 to 11:30 am. 

TRUMBULL COUNTY

  • McGuffey Elementary School, 3465 Tod Ave NW, Warren. Started on June 2 and runs through August 1, from 7:45 to 9:15 am, weekdays and lunch weekdays from 11 to 12:30.
  • Warren Heights Apartments, 504 Douglas NW, Warren. Started June 2 and goes through August 1, offering lunch from 12 to 12:30 pm weekdays.
  • Packard Park, 1703 Mahoning Avenue, Warren. Started June 2 and runs through August 1, weekdays lunch from 12 pm to 12:30 pm.
  • Lincoln K-8, 2253 Atlantic Street NE, Warren. Started June 2 and runs through August 1, breakfast 7:45 to 9:15 am weekdays, lunch from 12 pm to 12:30 pm.
  • Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Avenue NW, Warren. Started June 2 and runs through August 1, lunch from 12:15 pm to 1 pm weekdays.

  • Community Garden, 565 Laird Avenue, Warren. Started on June 2 through August 1, offering lunch weekdays from 11:30 to 12 pm.
  • Triyoucares, 239 Main Ave SW, Warren. Started on June 2 through August 1, offering breakfast from 9 to 9:30 am weekdays, and lunch from 12 to 12:30 pm.
  • Jefferson Elementary School, 1543 Tod Avenue, Warren. Started on June 2 through August 1, offering breakfast from 7:45 to 9:15 am weekdays and lunch 11 to 12:30 pm.
  • Highland Terrace Community Center, 377 Lane Drive, Warren. Started on June 2 through August 1, offering lunch weekdays from 11:30 to 12 pm.
  • Friendship Baptist Church, 1954 Brier Street, Warren. Starting June 10 through June 12, offering supper from 6 to 6:30 pm.
  • Willard Avenue K-8 School, 2020 Willard Avenue, Warren. Started on June 2 through August 1, offering breakfast weekdays from 7:30 to 9:15 am, and lunch 11 to 12:30 pm.
  • Royal Mall, 35 Royal Mall, Niles. Started on June 2 through August 1, offering lunch weekdays from 12 to 12:30 pm.
  • Niles Intermediate School, 120 East Margaret St., Niles. Started on May 27 through June 12, offering breakfast Tue, Wed, Thu from 7:30 to 8 am and lunch on the same days from 11 to 11:30 am. 
  • McKinley High School, 616 Dragon Drive, Niles. Started on May 27 through August 7, offering breakfast Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu from 8:30 to 9 am and lunch on Tue, Wed, Thu from 11 to 11:30 am. 
  • Niles Middle School, 411 Brown St., Niles. Started on May 27 through June 12, offering breakfast Tue, Wed, Thu from 7:30 to 8:15 am and lunch on the same days from 11:30 to 12 am. 
  • Brookfield Elementary School, 614 Bedford Road, Brookfield. Started on May 27 through August 7, offering breakfast weekdays from 8:30 to 10 am and from 11 to 12:30 pm.
  • Liberty High School, 1 Leopard Way, Liberty Twp. Started on June 3 from June 27, offering breakfast weekdays 7:30 to 8 am. and lunch 11 to 12:15 pm.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY

  • Salem High School, 1200 E 6th St., Salem. Started June 2 through August 15, offering breakfast weekdays from 9 to 10 am and lunch from 10:30 to 1 pm.
  • East Palestine High School, 360 W Grant Street, East Palestine. Starting on June 9 through August 15, offering breakfast from 8 to 10 am and lunch from 11 to 12:30 pm.
  • McKinley Elementary School, 441 E. Chestnut, Lisbon. Started June 2 through August 12, weekdays from 8 to 9:15 am and lunch 11 to 12:30 pm.
  • Bank Street Playground, 811 Riley Avenue, East Liverpool. Started June 2 through August 25, weekdays offering lunch from 11:30 to 12:30 pm, and offering weekend meals will be sent home on Fridays.
