City of Youngstown to hire investigator to look into councilwoman's residency

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown is hiring an independent investigator to look into the residency of Seventh Ward Councilwoman Amber White.
While an investigation into White's residency was already done, Brown has ordered for a second investigation to happen due to White owning a home on Tibbetts Wick in Liberty Township.
The Trumbull County Auditor's website shows that White has owned this home since 2022. White was first elected to Council in November of 2023.
A spokesperson for the City of Youngstown tells 21 News this second investigation is happening after several requests and recent information on White's address.
"Youngstown taxpayers have a right to know. This is about good governance, and as such, it requires an independent, objective and unbiased investigator," the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson went on to say Mayor Brown does not believe the first study was biased or not objective, but this second investigation will look into what's come to light within the last 18 months through comments and reporting.
The cost of the study is not finalized yet, but the spokesperson says the cost of doing the study will be a lot less than not doing it the right way or at all in the long run.
