The Ohio High School Athletic Association's Board of Directors meets tomorrow morning in Akron and could vote to change the number of football teams that qualify for the playoffs.

Executive Director Doug Ute told 21 Sports last month, "there was a serious concern that 16 weeks is to long."

At that point Ute said there were "thoughts" of maybe a nine game regular season but schools need that tenth game (fifth home game) for revenue to help other sports.

If the board decides to go to 12 teams, the top four in each region would get a first round bye in the playoffs.

Schools administrators recently filled out a survey on the playoffs and season and in our May interview Ute said that'll be a guide if any changes are made.

"The survey is not a vote. The survey is used to gather information from our member schools and we've heard a lot that would support a 12 team per region."
