30 shots fired: One injured in East Avondale Avenue shooting

YOUNGSTOWN - A man was wounded early Monday on Youngstown’s Southside as 30 rounds were fired in the area. The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.
ShotSpotter, a technology that uses acoustic sensors to detect and pinpoint the location of gunshots, led officers to the 200 block of East Avondale Avenue just after 4:30 a.m. Officers found a man inside a home with a gunshot wound to his right leg near the kneecap.
According to police, the victim and two other people had just left their jobs in Boardman and were smoking marijuana in a car parked in the driveway of the East Avondale Avenue home when they heard the gunfire and ran inside the house, where they discovered the victim had been hit.
A surveillance video from a home shows six people, all dressed in black, firing weapons in the street.
The front of the house at the scene was hit by approximately 25 bullets, with additional damage to the east side of the home. The car where the men had been smoking marijuana was also struck, with shotgun pellets hitting the trunk, and a bullet hole in the rear right side panel, and another on the rear passenger door.
The homeowner, who was inside with her children during the incident, told police she dropped to the ground when she heard the rapid gunfire.
At the hospital, the victim told police he did not have any enemies.
Detectives with the Youngstown Police Department are investigating the shooting.
