Trumbull County Historical Society to host three-day summer camp

NORTH BLOOMFIELD, Ohio - The Trumbull County Historical Society (TCHS) is holding a summer camp from July 7 to July 9 for ages 6-12 at Center Brook Manor in North Bloomfield.
Hands-On History Summer Camp looks to give the youth an immersive look into the area's history through crafts and games with Center Brook Manor acting as a historic monument on its own.
"Center Brook Manor isn't just a backdrop—it's a living classroom," said the TCHS Director of Operations and Outreach Ryan MacLennan. "Kids will not only learn about history, they'll live it."
According to Center Brook Manor's website, the location started as Center Brook Farm and was a documented stop along the Under Ground Railroad.
Each of the three days will have a different historical theme for the kids to learn from through hands-on activities.
Kids will learn about colonial times and the Revolutionary war on day one through playing colonial games and dressing like pioneers. Day two will get to learn the significance of the camps location through learning about the underground railroad.
On day three, campers will get to dig through simulated archaeology sites to recover artifacts and make their own "mini museum."
These camp days will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parents looking to sign their kid up can register online at the link here.
