A charge has been filed against the owner of an emaciated dog found in Bazetta Township over the weekend.

According to Trumbull County Central District Court records, an animal cruelty charge has been filed against 60-year-old Thomas Hyde of Cortland. He's set to be arraigned Wednesday, July 9 at 9 a.m.

Hyde was charged after an emaciated dog was found at a home on Cadwallader-Sonk Road on Saturday, July 5. The dog was taken to the Niles Veterinary Clinic and was given blood work and heart medication.

According to Healthy Hearts & Paws Project President and CEO Jason Cooke, the Bazetta Township Police Department was able to get in touch with Hyde, who voluntarily surrendered the dog, now named Titan, to the shelter.
