More layoffs as a result of the struggling economy and downturn in the U.S. auto industry.

Delphi announced it will permanently layoff 99 workers effective next Tuesday.

The president of the International Union of Electrical workers is hopeful some of those workers will be called back some time next year.

The workers laid off were all hired in the past year. Delphi gets sixty percent of its business from General Motors.

These layoffs come a day after Magna, formerly Inteir, announced layoffs of nearly 240 workers effective in January, that company makes the seats for the Cobalt.
