Trumbull Commissioners compete for solar power

Trumbull County Commissioners are hoping to get stimulus money to put solar panels on the roof of the Jobs and Family services building in downtown Warren.

There's only 8 million dollars available and Trumbull will be competing against nearly 100 other local governments.

Commissioners had a company do a study about a year ago to find out which county building will benefit the most from solar panels.

"They do an evaluation as to where it's located in relation to sunlight ," says Commissioner Paul Heltzel, "and also other buildings so you make sure other buildings don't block the sun's rays."

It could take up to a year for the county finds out if it will receive the grant.
