Mercer AWARE program awarded grant money

MERCER COUNTY - Mercer county has new ammunition to fight domestic violence.

The local AWARE program has been awarded two federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grants.

$680,000 that will be used to help reduce domestic violence in Mercer County over the next three years.

Included in those grants is money for hiring new personnel, training for police for better enforcement and enhanced victim services.

Mercer County was one of only 28 victim services programs in Pennsylvania to have secured two STOP grants.
