Traficant supporters file appeal

James Traficant James Traficant

TRUMBULL COUNTY, Ohio- Supporters of former congressman James Traficant filed an appeal with the Trumbull county board of elections Thursday in an effort to get his name on the November ballot.

Traficant's plans to run for Congress in the 17th district as an independent hit a snag earlier this month when several of the signatures he submitted were disqualified.

Kelly Pallante of the Trumbull county board of elections said the request from the Traficant campaign would trigger a hearing within five days.

He needs more than 2,200 signatures to be on the ballot.
