Drug suspect, Shawn Patton, was mentor at Youngstown school

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - 21 News has learned that a former Youngstown State University football player, charged with 28 others in an alleged interstate drug ring, was also serving as a mentor at a Youngstown elementary school.

Patton served 37 months in prison for a drug conviction in 2004.

Youngstown School Superintendent Connie Hathorne says that the company claimed to have performed a background check on Patton.
