Prosecutor Gains seeks privacy in Oakhill proceedings

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - While those facing trial in the Oakhill purchase case try to keep a lid on information in the proceedings, the Mahoning County Prosecutor wants some privacy as well.

Prosecutor Paul Gains has asked the Ohio Supreme court to dismiss a request from Anthony Cafaro's attorney that seeks the prosecutor's daily calendars and other communications related to the case.

Attorney John McCaffrey has accused Gains of witholding evidence in the case.

In a filing with the state supreme court, Gains claims the documents being sought are not public records.

Seven people are scheduled to go on trial for allegedly trying to use their influence to stop the county from purchasing the Oakhill building.
