MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - The Mahoning County Sheriff's Department and the County Board of Elections are investigating some absentee ballots submitted in Tuesday's primary election.

According to our print partner, The Vindicator, the investigation surrounds Danny Morgan, who was running for the Struthers council at large seat.

Sources say a clerk at the board of elections, Danielle O'Neill, accepted dozens of absentee ballots submitted by people not related to those who filled out the ballots.

Under state law it is illegal for a non-relative to possess and submit absentee documents.

Mahoning County Board of Elections Director Tom McCabe says the ballots in question would not have affected the outcome of the race.
