Morley resigns from the board of elections

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Michael Morley, a former chairman of Mahoning County's Democratic Party, will resign from the board of elections on Friday.

Morley sent an official letter to the Democratic Party in July saying he plans to spend more time in New York, but will also maintain a residence in the Valley.

Morley was recognized for his dedication and hard work. He was presented with a gift from the staff at the board of elections.

The Democratic Party will make a recommendation on his replacement, but it's ultimately up to the secretary of state to give final approval.
