SHARON, Pennsylvania - A bizarre twist to a jewelry store break-in in Sharon.

A man who called in a tip on the crime hoping to cash-in on a reward - is ultimately arrested as the suspect.

Up to 15-thousand dollars in jewelry, including diamond engagement rings, were stolen from The Gold Mine on East State Street in Sharon early Wednesday morning.

Store owner, Mark Multari says the suspect, 28-year-old Emile Pratt, Jr., was in his store just days before and received cash for a gold chain and then kept asking about prices on certain rings.

"In the beginning he wanted to be the good Samaritan to throw himself off police track and then try to double dip to try and get a possible reward too and clear his name," Multari said.

A local jeweler in Warren called authorities when some of the stolen merchandise was sold to his store.

The suspect and his wife allegedly had approximately 60 stolen rings in their possession when they were arrested.
