State releases findings from investigation into Trumbull County Children Services

WARREN, Ohio- The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services recommends Trumbull County Children Services install cameras in all of its visitation rooms.
This comes from the state's investigation into the agency's policies after a child was allegedly raped at the site.
After a 13-month-old was allegedly raped by her own parents during a supervised visit at Trumbull County Children Services, the agency asked the state to investigate it's policies last month.
Friday the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services released a report with it's findings.
According to the report, the majority of parental visitation logs from November 2010 onward were recorded a year later in October. The visitation plan was in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code.
A safety assessment and family assessment were not completed timely and technical errors were found. The decision to obtain custody and the case plan objectives and services were appropriate and the plan to continue restricted visits was reasonable.
"We have made one significant recommendation and that is that they install cameras in the nursery visitation room and in all visitation rooms," said Ohio Department of Job and Family Services spokesman Benjamin Johnson.
Trumbull County Children Services Executive Director Nick Kerosky says in a news release, "We have already begun that process. We have also put in place other protective measures, which we will detail as we move forward."
He says they will develop and submit a written plan of action to address the record keeping and timeliness issues as requested by the state.
"We will monitor their compliance as they develop the plan and we will continue to monitor their compliance as they implement that action plan," said Johnson.
Trumbull County Children Services needs to submit the plan to the state within 30 days.
