WARREN, Ohio - People hoping to get a job in the oil and gas industry may be able to get a little help from a Department of Labor grant.
The Trumbull County One Stop and Eastern Gateway Community College are working together to administer the grant program. The funds will be used to pay half of the wages of a new hire for the first three months.
The grant is targeting unemployed, dislocated, and low income workers.
"The anticipated amount of jobs that the shale industry will need, the oil and gas industry will need, is very exciting and this gives us additional resources to work with," said Bill Turner from Trumbull County One Stop.
The grant requires the employer to keep the worker on the job at the end of the training period.
